Other leisure facilities in the area include a 18 hole golf course, which can be found directly opposite the Epsom Races course. Epsom Races Information The course at the Epsom Races is flat and left-handed, curling into a u-shape covering 1 mile 4 furlongs in total. It boast a 3 1/2 furlong run-in with a pronounced camber which starts downhill before rising again in the final furlong. The track is rumoured to be one of the fastest in the world. Dogs are not to be brought to the Epsom Races, and they strongly insist that race-goers do not leave their dogs in their cars during a days racing. The dress code at the Epsom Races is officially smart casual, but often people will dress up for the Derby Festival, or for the numerous other events at Epsom. Although there are cash machines available in the Queen's Stand and the Grandstand Enclosures, they often have very long queues and it recommended that race goers take cash out before they arrive at the course. Coach enclosures and The Hill have no cash points, but there are cash machines available in Epsom Town Centre itself and on the parade of shops which can be found near Tattenham Corner Station. It total, there are 8 enclosures available at Epsom, the Queens Stand, Lonsdale Enclosure, Tattenham Straight, Upper Tattenham, Grandstand Enclosure, Tattenham Picnic Area, The Walton and The Hill. Getting There By road, the racecourse can be found just a few minutes away from Epsom Town Centre on the B290 Epsom Down Road. Alternatively, race goers can leave the M25 at Junction 9 and bypass the town. During the racing season at Epsom there will be AA signs marking all major approach routes to the course. There is free car parking on arrival at the course, but also car parks closer to the races for which tickets can be bought for in advance or on the day. The two major London airports, both Heathrow and Gatwick, are approximately 23 miles from the racecourse. Some larger bus companies provide a service from the airports to the Epsom Races, and there are numerous taxis. The nearest station to the Epsom Racecourse is the Tattenham Corner Racecourse, which is a half mile walk away. The most convenient station in regard to connections and direct trains is the Epsom Downs station, though, which is 1 mile from the racecourse can has a connection from London Waterloo and London Victoria.
