The Haydock Park Races provide not only the exciting racing atmosphere you would expect from a racecourse of such prestige and popularity, but also one of the leading conference centres available in the heart of the North West of England. Many great races and cups are held at the Haydock Park Races course, with highlights from 2007 including the bet365 Old Newton Cup held on the 7th of July, the Grade 1 Betfair Chase at the Northwest Racing Masters on the 24th of November and the Group 1 Betfred Sprint Cup held on the 8th of September. These races rank alongside such great races as the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the King George V Stakes - as they are one of only three running "Grade 1" steeplechases that cover over three miles available in Britain today. At Haydock, there are 29 race days a year, with first-class flat and jump fixtures, as well as the National Hunt, as well as a range of first-class facilities. All this is set is 127 acres of beautiful English parkland, maintaining that classic English racing feel. There are four grandstands available at Haydock Park Races, and each of these four boast a distinctive character of their own. With sophisticated luxury in the Premier Enclosure, top-of-the-range facilities and catering in the Country Stand, the party atmosphere and wide range of bar drinks available in the Tattersalls Stand or just a relaxing day at the races in the Newton Stand. There are specific dress codes for two of these enclosures you should be aware of - in the Premier Enclosure race goers must wear a jacket and tie, the Country Stand is smart casual and requests no trainers, tracksuits or jeans. Getting There Finding your way to Haydock Park Races is simple, with excellent road, rail and public transport connections. By Road, Haydock Park is just one mile from Junction 23 of the M6 - if you have a set of reserved car park passes, or are part of a coach party, it is advised that you enter the course from the A49. Otherwise, free parking is provided on race days at the main car park, which can be accessed from the A580 East. By Rail, the nearest station to the Hay Haydock Park Racecourse is Newton-le-Willows, which is on the Manchester (Piccadilly) to Liverpool (Lime Street) line. If you are travelling on the main London to Glasgow Line, to get to Haydock Park Races you must head for the Warrington or Wigan stations, which are both 8 miles from the course. Via Public Transport, there are several bus services available; these include the 620 Ashton to Haydock service and the 320 St. Helens to Wigan service, which stops at Haydock. Haydock Park Races Information There are two courses available at Haydock which include the Flat course - a left-handed oval shape, which is a galloping course. It is 1m5f round and includes a 41/2f run-in. The National Hunt Course at Haydock is also left-handed, and flat and galloping. There are several drop fences, and a very long run-in on the chase course, which can be sharp. In total the circuit is 1m5f.
