Nottingham Races

The Nottingham Races are set within 280 acres of beautiful parkland at Colwick Park, only two miles from the centre of Nottingham city. Because of it's close location to such as thriving city, the Nottingham Racecourse is easily accessible by rail, road and air and offers ample free parking to meet the huge demand for its races. Races have been held at the Nottingham Racecourse for over 100 years, and, as a result, it offers a wealth of tradition, excellent value for money and all the modern facilities you would expect in a modern races. Arguably, the heart of the Nottingham Races is the modern Centenary Stand with its top-of-the range looks and entertainment facilities, although the older grandstand has not been replaced by this behemoth - and was refurbished along with it. The Nottingham Races season begins in March and runs right up to November, offering three seperate enclosures to race goers - each with their own specific traits to suit any race goer as well as Tote facilities.. These enclosures include: The Members Enclosure - This allows unlimited to all public areas of the course, as well as great views of the course itself along with the parade ring and the winners enclosure. The Grandstand Enclosure - The largest enclosure, offering a real race day "feel". Racegoers in the Grandstand Enclosure have access to all ground areas, which covers the parade ring, the winner's enclosure and a children's playground. and The Paddocks - Ideal for conferences, dinners, training days or seminars.

Nottingham Races Information

The track at the Nottingham Races is Flat and left-handed. Oval in shape, it offers easy turns and is around 1 mile 4f long with a 1 1/2f run-in. The old hurdle track provides an alternative 5f course. There is no specific dress code in the main part of the Nottingham Races course, although the Premier Enclosure, the most luxury of the three, operates a dress code of smart casual. All race goers wearing clothes that are unsuitably untidy, shorts, fancy dress, trainers or sports clothing will be refused access to this enclosure, although they do not insist that men wear jacket and ties. No cash point is available at the racecourse, but cash back can be obtained from the Raceday Cash Office if using a debit card. Use of this service is subject to an upper limit, as well as a transaction charge. There is no cash back service available with credit cards. Unlike many modern race courses, the Nottingham Races do not provide a dedicated picnic car park or picnic area - or an enclosure where this is permitted. Picnics are allowed, though, on the track side lawn which can be found adjacent to the betting ring. Alcohol and glass bottles or cups are banned from the racecourse itself, and must not be brought.

Getting There

By car, the course is East of Nottingham on the B686 in Colwick, making it easy to access from every direction. For the East or West take the A52, the A60 and A453 if arriving from the south and, finally, the A60 or A612 from the north. All these are within easy reach of the M1 or A1, which makes the Nottingham Races on of the easiest to access in the country. If travelling by train, Nottingham railway station is 1 mile from the course.
