Plumpton Races

The Plumpton Racecourse, home of the Plumpton Races is one of the most successful smaller jump racecourses in the UK, and stages sixteen popular National Hunt meetings during their racing season from September to May. There have been races held at Plumpton since 1884, with the first ever Plumpton Races held on the 11th of February. The racecourse itself maintains an old-world racing feel, but has been modernised considerably over the years to meet the growing demands on racing. Today, they boast corporate hospitality boxes, the Paddock Restaurant and Bar and a whole host of modern facilities, offering wonderful panoramic views of the Plumpton Races track, which is set against the beautiful and untouched backdrop of the South Downs.

Plumpton Races Information

The Plumpton racecourse track is a left-handed flattened oval, about 1 mile 2 furlongs in total. The jumps are a little challenging, and often provide an exciting race. A range of private boxes are available in the Southdown and Lewes Stands, which can host a minimum of 8 people up to a maximum of 80. These boxes have stunning views of the racetrack in its entirety, with the boxes themselves alongside the home straight - meaning occupants are really a part of the closing of the Plumpton Races and all their excitement. A private roof-top terrace is provided with the ultimate in racing experiences - the Directors Box. This luxury box boasts a five star caterer, a superior dining room and a roving Tote betting representative - with a caterer to tailor-make the exact package desired to meet any demand. There is no enforced dress code at the Plumpton Races although racegoers that wish to use the Premier facilities that the course provides are encouraged to at least dress in a smart casual manner. Accompanied children under the age of 16 are admitted into the course and its enclosures completely free, and on certain race days there is often extra children's entertainment provided. There are three enclosures available at the course - these include: Members - With the Paddock Bar and Restaurant offering three course meals in a luxury setting with panoramic views of the course. Tattersalls - Offering the Lewes Bar with light meals and stocked bar, as well as the Southdown Fish Bar with a variety of seafood and sandwiches. Many fast-food outlets are also available in this enclosure. And Silver Ring - Most racegoers bring a picnic to this enclosure, but there is also a bar at the centre of the course. There is no stand or access to the Parade Ring and Winner's Enclosure like in the other two enclosures, but it is as close to the racing action as it gets.
