Uttoxeter Races From humble beginnings in 1907 when it only offered 5 days of racing, today the Uttoxeter Races are a top runner into the world of jumps racing - having grown to offer 24 race meetings throughout the year, spread all through the seasons! At Uttoxeter, not only can race-goers enjoy the warm summer race evenings with thrilling jumping action, but also National Hunt Racing in the Winter and a whole host of exciting chases during the Spring and Autumn. Voted the "Finest Country Racecourse in the Land", the Uttoxeter races promise "to be on course for an unforgettable day" The feature days at Uttoxeter that bring in the real crowds include The John Smith's Midlands Grand National and the Britannia Building Society English Summer National. There is not only racing action at these events, but a whole host of other entertainment for the young and old alike, as well as excellent catering facilities. The Uttoxeter Racecourse welcomes families, with all under 16s admitted free to all enclosures when accompanied bt an adult, and has special themed race days that are sure to enchant children. Events include Medieval Day with knights and princess staff members in abundance, and Irish Night for when the kids are tucked up in bed! Uttoxeter is primarily a jumps track - offering Summer Jumping in the Summer and National Hunt Racing in the Winter. Occasionally, though, they do offer a Bumper Race, which is a special type of race in a National Hunt Flat Race style, designed for young experienced horses to make their début. Many horse legends have made their first appearances at Uttoxeter, and the Bumper Races are a good chance to spot the next big thing! Uttoxeter Races Information The National Hunt course at Uttoxeter is left handed, with some undulations. The circuit is 1 mile 3 furlongs in total. The dress code at the Uttoxeter Races is not strict, but request a smart/casual theme with no jeans permitted in the more luxury enclosures. In no enclosures are bare tops, torn or ripped jeans or sports shirts permitted. A cash point can be found in the Betting Hall area of the Uttoxeter Racecouse. Getting There By road, the course can be found just off the A50 between Burton on Trent and Stoke on Trent, with the racecourse is clearly signposted from the A50, A515, A518 and Uttoxeter Town Centre. Once in Uttoxeter itself, follow the numerous brown signs to Wood Lane and take the second turning on the left signed to Main Entrance and Conference Centre. Once there, you will find there is ample free parking, and the staff at Uttoxeter racecourse even allow race goers to leave their car at the car park overnight if they've had a few celebrations! Finding the Uttoxeter Races by rail is simple, as Uttoxeter Railway station is adjacent to the racecourse itself. There are many Intercity services available which run to Derby or Stoke on Trent, and from there there are regular connecting trains to Uttoxeter. As well as this, there is a direct service from Crewe. With prior permission from the racecourse, helicopters may land on the centre course. Tatenhill Airfield at Needwood also can be used by aircraft, and is a mere 7 miles from the course. |
